HOW to adopt

Adopting a dog is one of life’s greatest joys — but it’s also a serious responsibility. At Drummond Aussies, we take this commitment to heart. Before you raise your hand to adopt one of our pups, here’s how our process works:

  1. Submit an application — We’ll ask about your lifestyle, experience, home setup, and expectations.

  2. Interview — Once your application looks good, we’ll schedule a call (phone or Zoom) to chat further, answer questions, and ensure our pups are a good fit.

  3. Acceptance & reservation — If approved, you’re offered a spot. A $500 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve a pup and if you would like to visit your pup in person / via Zoom please let us know, we’d love to arrange that for you.

  4. Weekly Updates — After you pay your deposit your puppy will be confirmed and you will receive weekly updates with photos about your sweet pup! At that point if you know what name you’ll call your new family member we’ll use that name to begin recall training.

  5. Final payment & pickup — Full payment is due before or on the day your puppy goes home. On pick‑up day, we’ll hand over veterinary records, registration paperwork, and puppy care instructions.

We do this because we want our puppies to go to loving, prepared homes. All adopters must agree to ongoing care — including regular vet visits, vaccinations, heartworm & parasite prevention, proper nutrition, mental & physical exercise, and training.

Please note:

  • The deposit is non‑refundable except in rare cases.

  • By reserving a puppy, you are promising to follow our terms in the written agreement (which you’ll review and sign).

  • Failure to comply with contract terms may result in forfeiture of adoption or a requirement to return the puppy.

  • We strongly recommend adopters review all terms and ask any questions before committing.

We believe in lifelong support, so we’ll always be here as a resource for you and your new best friend.
